LAYOUT

This week Dan asked us to draw a dynamic layout with curvilinearity and a calm layout with angularity.

I thought this was a great idea for an assignment. Cool Dan did it again.

Brain Explosion

Photobucket

I was messing around with fluids... trying to break them. I took a colorful ramp and fed it into crazy opacity input keys. This came out of that. Jason said it looked like a brain exploding, so thats what it is.

Its fun to try to confuse maya.

When I see an input like "IMPLODE" I throw it negative, just to mess with maya's head. That kind of stuff makes it feel more like doodling to me. Its cool that you can try whatever you want.

The face I made

I was working on a rig, modeling this surfer brah... when out of the blue the mesh for his body disappeared.

So I was like "wtf?"

I checked the outliner and the geometry was there. I selected it and I could see the vertexes, but there were no faces.

So again I was like "wtf?"

Being a good citizen I restarted maya, saving my changes.
I opened it back up and everything was gone. When I realized that there was no more hope for the surfer brah this is the face I made:

ske-tchbook drawings

Scan didn't show up well so i messed with the levels. It was drawn on bright pink paper originally.

The above is based on an actual conversation. This dude was like, "Jah dude you get shacked" and the other dude was all like, "Jah dude totally shacked"

I had no idea what they were talking about. So I asked around.

I learned something new.

SHACKED
To be so deep inside the tube of a wave that one is completely enveloped - like being inside a fully enclosed dwelling, or shack.
There is an alternate definition "to get really wasted"

Right on

I've been playing this game called League of Legends

I drew these guys up top based on what I figured the other people playing the game must look like.

bomb suit man

This is a test I did on my bros computer. Its from a thumbnail sketch of a little guy in a bomb suit like "fatman" from MGS. I modeled and rigged this character. The Xray texture took all night to render on this computer! It was done by using ambient occlusion information as a way to shade the rig. Thanks for looking

GHOSTS HUNTER :the truth

Photobucket

The mayas cracked open like and egg and this is what came out.

whenever I do animation in maya, something weird happens and I end up making some whacked out version of what I was originally working on. Maya is such a scary place.

Im working on a red cat thing, and a dario-dressed-as-a-porcupine thing

The fire is from the Red Cat thing. Which is a project for Fran's class (not france class) with a red cat and a backpack, a knife and a morgue. messing around with these BOSS computers while I still have them

BOB experiment

Its presidents day weekend. I took a break from films to do something completely off topic

This was my first render from maya. Its also my first rig.

This was rendered with mental-ray [color corrected physical sun]

I did some weird stuff with focal length
